Different types of Hair Pieces

With wigs and postiche they come in three different types of hair.

• Synthetic hair- which is a mix fibre of plastic usually made of acrylic, polyester and polyvinyl. On this hair you can not use any heated tools at all as the hair will melt. Synthetic wigs and hair pieces usually come pre-styled and will always remain in that style.
• Heat resistant hair- is a mix of human and synthetic hair and has fibres that can take up to a certain level of heat.
• Human hair- is real hair from a person come from all over the world this hair can be styled with heated tools and can be coloured with hair dye. This is the most realistic and expensive hair you can get.

Wigs

There are many different types of wigs, wigs are used for thinning of the hair or hair loss, used for actors on stage and TV, its also used for dressing up and costume. Wigs come in different types of fibre. You can get synthetic, heat resistant and human hair.

Synthetic wigs

Synthetic wigs are made from fine plastic fibres and this would usually be acrylic, polyester or polyvinyl. Synthetic wigs are made to look as like real hair, the higher the quality the more realistic the hair looks. No heated tools can be used on a synthetic wig as it will melt. These wigs usually come in a preset style which is easy to maintain and will not loose the style. The only ways to style these wigs is by steaming the wig and styling it that way.

Heat resistant wigs

Heat resistant wigs can take heat up to 350 degrees maximum. This means you can use heated tools on the wig and it will hold your style until you apply heat on the wig and restyle it again. This type of wig is made of a mix of heat resistant synthetic and human hair.

Lace front wigs

A lace front wig is where the lace is at the front of the wig only. This can also be made custom made measured to a person head to match the hairline and skin tone. The back of the hair is a weft sewn on to a mesh. This helps achieve a natural hairline and make the wig look more realistic. The wig would usually have combs inside the hair and have elastic straps inside to tighten the wig to fit the persons head.

Full lace wigs

A full lace wig is usually handmade and each hair is knotted on individually. This is the most expensive type of wig and is worn mostly on TV, film, theatre and by celebrities. This wig is very delicate and stretchy the full lace wig is usually custom made to the models head to fit the hairline perfectly so it looks completely natural. With full lace wigs you can style the hair how ever you want and even have the wig in an pony tail which can not be achieved with other wigs.

Toupee

Toupee is worn by men mostly to cover up baldness and to blend in with their natural hair. A toupee is a partial wig which is design to cover up the top part of the head when hair line starts to recedes. The toupee is put on with either a special tape or spirit gum which keeps in place.

Hair Weft

Hair Weft is woven either by machine which is most common or by hand in to a string line. This is one the most popular hair extensions and is used for adding thickness, length and style to the hair. The weft is either glued in, sewn, clipped or just even wrapped around pony tails and pinned in. This weft is suitable for all types of hair.

Bond

Hair bond is when all hair is joint from the top together. they come in different sizes and used in different ways. The big hair bond looks like a pony tail and can be incorporated in to the by plating it in. There are also glued in bonding and ring loops with look like small shoe lace of hair and then either glued in or clipped in to the hair as shown in the image above.
